Ouch!

by Jeremy Blachman

Link via Howard, like he needs our traffic: The Washington Post reports, "Georgia House Bans Genital Piercings." I'm sure that's not the first house to ban them.

Amendment sponsor Rep. Bill Heath, R-Bremen, was slack-jawed when told after the vote that some adults seek the piercings.

"What? I've never seen such a thing," Heath said. "I, uh, I wouldn't approve of anyone doing it. I don't think that's an appropriate thing to be doing."

The ban applies only to women, not to men. When asked to comment on the gender inequity, Heath said, "Oh, no, for men it's cool. I got mine pierced just last week," and then pulled down his pants. It is expected that if the case ends up at the Supreme Court, there will be at least three dissenters. Unnamed sources have informed us that Justice Ginsburg, Justice Scalia's wife, and Justice Rehnquist's illegitimate love child with Cher all have their genitals pierced.

I find that when speaking in public, a good way to make yourself less nervous is to imagine that everyone in the audience has his or her genitals pierced. It's also a good way to make yourself vomit.

Anyone know of any Free Exercise Clause cases that have dealt with female circumcision?

I think Justice Thomas would dissent as well. No reason, really. He just seems like a type that might not be against such a thing. My opinion might have something to do with the rumors of sexual harassment, including, but not limited to, his alleged question to Anita Hill asking who had put pubic hair in his coke.

I never bought into that one. I mean, what kind of way is that to pick up a woman? It's just not quite the same as your peanut butter is in my chocolate and your chocolate is in my peanut butter.

This is just shameful. Firstly on the gender discrimination, if you are going to ban genital peircing, you had better make sure its across the board. Secondly, on what basis is the ban being made? Is somehow genital peircing in Georgia causing an undue burden on the taxpayers? Give me a break. I really hate morality nanny's in the goverment. Thats not what they are elected to do, they are elected to look out for the best interests of their constituency, and I can't see in any way how this is in the best interest of their constituency.
